I am o ENL High School Counselor at John Dewey High School. 

My caseload is 9th and 12th graders newcomers from different countries. 

 

You may be asking why I am here on this website for 3-K and Pre-K students.

Well, I will tell you.

I love to work with the little ones. In fact, I had worked with elementary school students (General Ed and Special Ed) for nine years.  

 

So, I am committed to collaborating with parents to help children thrive in developing social-emotional skills and to achieve their best academic potential.

 

Creating these trainings for parents makes me happy especially because I got to team up with them and the whole school to provide the best education and social-emotional opportunities for their children. 

Besides that, it is very gratifying to deliver support to parents. I am a mom myself of two boys (15 and 17 years old) and trust me I know the ups and downs of parenthood as well. 

In addition, I understand the challenges of immigrants, since I am living them myself - an immigrant from Brazil.

 

The school is ready to give the welcome and support you and your children need to learn to navigate these early school ages, learn English, and move on the education ladder.
